About Pilates

WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a physical fitness system developed at the beginning of the 20th century by Joseph Pilates in Germany.

Pilates named his method Contrology, because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles. The program focuses on the core postural muscles that help keep the body balanced and that are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine and targeting to strengthen the deep torso muscles.

An innovative system of mind-body exercise.

Pilates teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. It improves flexibility, agility and economy of motion. It helps alleviate back pain.


It is not a miracle. Developed from the rehabilitation techniques of Joseph Pilates, this exercise method is safe and sensible. Pilates is using Reformers or floor mat, that will help you look and feel your very best. It will work for you no matter your age or condition.
